Friday Pick

It’s Friday night again but this one is a little different as I left my job this afternoon after six years.  I am happy to say that I have left with a wealth of experiences and I have made some wonderful friends who started out as colleagues or clients.

I suppose I’m now officially unemployed until next week so I think I will have to make sure I just look but don’t buy tonight!

I saw an advert on TV for TK Maxx and, as I haven’t looked for a few days, that was where I headed and I’ve found some lovely things.

My first pick are a pair of Rocket Dog ankle strap heels in navy and red.
25156491_small
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/navy+red-floral-motif-heels/invt/25156491
These are the type of shoes I love to wear.  You know that you’re not going to lose them as they have an ankle strap.  Am I the only one who’s lost a court shoe?  I once lost one crossing the road – it was pretty embarrassing!  These shoes are bold and have some interesting little features.  I like the cut out at the back and the ‘RD’ hanger coming from the buckle.  I’d wear these with anything and everything as an every day shoe.

Next up we have a nice nude patent slingback heel but they also have a reassuring ankle strap.
25064897_small
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/nude-patent-slingback-heels/invt/25064897
These would make an absolutely perfect office shoe.  They are sleek and smart and, being nude, you could wear then with pretty much anything and they would look great.

The next pick are a fun pair of summer wedges that would be lovely on holiday or wearing to a summer party where you’re going to be on grass.  The last thing you want in that situation is for a pair of stilettos to sink into the ground!
25263276_small
http://www.tkmaxx.com/sandals/black+white-pola-dot-wedges/invt/25263276
These are a bargain at £14.99 and I would love to wear them with a black 50’s style dress, I think they’d look superb.  These would make a very nice summer wardrobe staple.

My final choice are extravagant.  These are priced at £99.99 but are by ‘Car Shoe’ and usually sell for £275 so it’s quite a substantial saving.
25454327_salt1
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/mauve-suede-buckle-courts/invt/25454327
Aren’t they beautiful!  They are, of course at this price point, leather uppers.  I think they look really beautiful and I’d love to wear them with a smart black suit to add a bit of subtle colour.  If Theresa May does become PM I think she should get a pair of these.  She has made headlines for the shoes that she wears so perhaps she should have something lovely for those journalists to write about!

What have you been up to this week?  Have you done anything life changing?  What shoes were you wearing?

Monday to Wednesday Shoes

Hi again,

When was I last here?  Life has been a whirlwind.  I think you’re meant to start winding down as you approach your leaving date at work but I’ve been working like a beast in the run up to leaving my job to try and get everything done and leave the firm and my clients with good memories.

As my last week is now here after three months I have decided to have a little shoe parade in the office and wear some of my more fancy shoes.

This is what I’ve worn so far this week.
P1000940
Left to right you have Shoes of Prey, KG and Ruby Shoo.

I love these Shoes of Prey and I’m almost certain that no one will have an identical pair given that you get to hand pick all of the colours, etc.P1000941
My only issue with these shoes is that I don’t think the cross straps are quite in the right place as I have an issue with my little toe!
P1000942 P1000943
I seem to spend the whole time trying to fiddle with the straps and tuck it in.  I think that’s the reason I don’t wear them all that often as nothing looks uglier than toes sticking out all over the place!

Tuesday I wore the pink KG heels on the left, these must be about 8 to 10 years old.  It goes to prove that shoes can last a very long time if you look after them well.  That means that today’s shoes were the Roby Shoo’s on the right.  I found these on TK Maxx and couldn’t decide whether or not to buy them (https://emmaonshoes.wordpress.com/2016/05/12/screen-shopping-for-shoes/)
They are really lovely but they have a zip up the back and the back of the heel comes quite high up the ankle.  They can rub your ankles raw but I have discovered Compeed Blister plasters and they saved my ankle today from being skinned.P1000944

All I need to do now is decide what I’m going to wear on Thursday and Friday!

It’s been more than six years since I last changed jobs so it’s going to be a wrench as I’ve made some good friends but you sometimes have to try following your dreams and see where life takes you!

Night Out Shoes

I was being very rock and roll on Saturday night and staying in drinking nothing stronger than a cup of tea.  I used my time to pick out some nice shoes which would be perfect for a good night out for next time I leave the house on a Saturday.

The first pair are cut out court shoes which are plain black and elegant from the front but reveal a nice metallic heel at the back.
25401774_salt1
They are £19.99 and available here – http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/black-leather-pointed-heels/invt/25401774
These could easily be worn to the office and then worn on a night out.  I have a pair of cut out court shoes (not these) and they look really nice on and are comfortable to wear.

My next pick reflect a bit of a shoe trend at the moment with the two part court shoe.
25404007_salt1
I like these because they are simple and elegant and have a nice metallic front to make them look more party wear than office wear.  These are available for £19.99.
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/black+metallic-heeled-shoes/invt/25404007

Moving on we have another pair of cut out courts but I think the gems on the front and the material upper make them exclusively evening wear.  These would look gorgeous with smart black trousers or an evening gown.

25078456_salt1
These are a great price at £16.99.  I’m certain that it would be hard for others to guess that you have paid so little for such an elegant pair of shoes.
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/black-stud-embellished-pointed-courts/invt/25078456
Prefer something similar in navy? http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/navy-sateen-embellished-courts/invt/25068545
Maybe fuchsia? http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/fuchsia-satin-embellished-courts/invt/25068855

My next pick are a funny one.  I think they would be good for a night out but I also think that they would be equally at home in the office.  I couldn’t pass them without marking them but I don’t know why and sometimes you fall in love with a pair of shoes ‘just because’.  I think for me I like the angular sole leading up to the heel.  Most shoes gently slope up but these have a tight angle.

25080823_small
They are £16.99 and come in a faux snakeskin finish.
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/black-faux-snakeskin-heels/invt/25080823

I love the next pair because they look so normal and ‘dull’ from the front but the heel hides a surprise.  It’s a beautiful metallic heel but, more than that, look at the way it’s attached to the shoe.

25402063_salt1
These are £19.99 and I think would become a talking point at a party.  Some people wouldn’t notice but you’d know and any shoe lovers out there would spot them straight away.  It’s a good way of finding someone you have something in common with at a party – wear a great pair of shoes and you’ll find your soul mate.
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/black+metallic-court-heels/invt/25402063

My final pair are the only ones, I notice, which aren’t black!  I do not follow fashion to any extent.  I love to do my own thing and wear things that I like and that suit me.  Fashions come and go but some shoes will last for years, if you treat them right, so buy them because you like them, not because they’re in fashion.  All that said because I don’t know whether fringe shoes are ‘in’ at the moment.  I like the style and I like the colour so they join my list.  I think you’re going to want to team these with a skirt or dress that doesn’t come below the knee so you don’t make your ankle/foot area look too busy.

25298756_salt1
These shoes are the most expensive at £39.99 but they are by Steve Madden who is a designer that I love.

Winter Shoes

I know!  We’ve only just had the summer solstice and we haven’t actually had any nice, hot weather yet and here is some nutter talking about winter but bear with me!

If you buy something out of season you can quite often get quite a bargain because the warehouses of your favourite shops don’t want to be clogged up with items for months on end so now is a great time to buy a good pair of boots for much less than you’d pay when you need them.

I’ve found a pair that are quite fun on the Joe Browns website.
LF458A
They have a faux fur trim (which is removable) and are currently on sale at £21.95.
http://www.joebrowns.co.uk/sp+outlet-shoes-and-boots-faux-fur-trim-boots+lf458

Amazon are always a great source for boots out of season.  I’ve found a few pairs that I like:-

At £12.99 are these lace up boots with a fur lined collar
https://www.amazon.co.uk/WOMENS-COLLAR-LINED-WINTER-LADIES/dp/B00SPURB3G/ref=sr_1_2?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1466797561&sr=1-2&keywords=ladies+boots

Also at £12.99 are these super cute faux fur ankle boots (I really like these in grey or camel!)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/LADIES-WINTER-ANKLE-WOMENS-TRAINERS/dp/B00SPTIJ1U/ref=sr_1_10?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1466797561&sr=1-10&keywords=ladies+boots

These next ones are listed between £5.99 and £13.99 depending on your size and colour choice.  They are another pair of faux fur ankle boots with a grip sole.  Have a flick through and see which colour comes in cheapest in your size unless you’re really worried about which colour you have.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/LADIES-WOMENS-WINTER-ANKLE-TRAINERS/dp/B016DF65UO/ref=sr_1_26?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1466797561&sr=1-26&keywords=ladies+boots

The last pair I’ve found are just £4.99 and available in a size 4 or 5.  Another pair of ankle boots which are fur lined but an absolute bargain and great to stick away ready for next winter.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/WOMENS-LADIES-GIRLS-WINTER-LINED/dp/B00SBRBR3I/ref=sr_1_41?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1466797561&sr=1-41&keywords=ladies+boots

Of course, there are more expensive options available and great reductions on many boots but these were a few budget conscious options.

Timmy Chew

Happy Sunday to everyone out there.  I hope you are having a great day.

I am joining you today to talk to you about a lovely pair of Iron Fist shoes that are probably only for the brave.  You can’t be concerned about what people think because these turn heads and people give their opinions.

Take a look
P1000443 P1000441

You are not mistaken…these are patent black court shoes with teeth and gums on the front.  They go by the name of Timmy Chew and, I think, they are fantastic.

I have also worn these to work, albeit on a charitable dress down day.  I almost wore them to the dentist but I’m a massive wimp at the dentist and didn’t want my visit to last a second longer than it needed to!

You can still buy these from several retailers, on Amazon they are available for around £18 – £22.

I am told that I’m not a good judge of whether something is a ‘high’ heel or not but I don’t think they are high so I could do a lot of walking in them.

If you want a conversation piece or something just a little bit outside of the ordinary then I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you treat yourself to these.

I’ll shortly be seeing my Dad to wish him a wonderful Father’s Day and I hope you shoe lovers all have a wonderful Sunday.

Big Friday Pick

So, it’s been a busy week and today has been very wet with stormy skies and rumbles of thunder.  After a nice take-away I’m sat on the sofa just having a little look to see what shoes are about at the moment.

Let me share some of my favourites.

These are currently £24.90 on the Modatoi website.  A perfect shoe for summer with the sandal vibe but a bit more cover up and closed toes for those wet summer days we are likely to get in the UK!
C4835-04
http://www.modatoi.co.uk/boutique_us/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=C4835-38&code_lg=lg_us

The next pair are £20.90 on the Modatoi website.  They offer them in the blue that I have picked but also in black, white, red and beige.  I like the silver contrast heel.
C5169-04
http://www.modatoi.co.uk/boutique_us/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=C5169-38&code_lg=lg_us

My next pick are similar to the above but the contrast heel is a slightly different style.  These are again from Modatoi and £20.90.  They are also available in black and blue.
C5197-04
http://www.modatoi.co.uk/boutique_us/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=C5197-38&code_lg=lg_us

The next pick are a classic court shoe but with a nice twist.  I have picked them in grey but I’d be happy with them in any of the other colours (black, beige or blue).  They are on offer at the moment for just £16.60.  I think they’d make a lovely office shoe.
C5109-04
http://www.modatoi.co.uk/boutique_us/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=C5109-38&code_lg=lg_us

My final pick from Modatoi are just delicious.  I have paid hundreds for a pair that look in the region of these but these are just £18.40.  They are also available with a red base.
C3695-04

Next I moved onto TK Maxx and I start with a nice pair of summer clog sandals.  I love this style of shoe after buying a few pairs like this in Portugal.  They are comfortable and sturdy and you won’t have to worry about getting them re-heeled!  There are a few colour options but I have gone for pink as I think these would look lovely against a tan.  The RRP on these is £90 but they are on sale at £16.00.
25177976_small
http://www.tkmaxx.com/view-all-shoes/pink-strappy-block-heel-sandals/invt/25177976

You know I said that I liked the clog sandal style of shoe, well I’ve proved it by picking these as well.  They were just too lovely to scroll past.  Again they have an RRP of £90 but are being sold for £16.
25178196_small
http://www.tkmaxx.com/view-all-shoes/leather-strappy-block-heel-sandal/invt/25178196

The final pair of the night are by a shoe designer I adore.  I have few pairs of his shoes and they are gorgeous.  Steve Madden is a shoe genius and these £110 shoes are available for £32.  You’re going to need to have your feet in tip top condition to wear these as they won’t cover any rough skin so get your Ped Egg, or similar, out and get those tootsies smooth.
25298733_small
http://www.tkmaxx.com/view-all-shoes/pink-jeweled-embellished-heels-/invt/25298733

That’s it for tonight.  Now I just need a spare £170 to go and buy them all…

Do you like any of my picks or have you seen something lovely that I’ve missed?

Kurt Geiger Sale

Watch out!!  There’s a Kurt Geiger sale on!!

Kurt Geiger make some of my very favourite shoes.  If I had unlimited funds I would own millions of pairs of Kurt’s because they are just so gorgeous!

I’ve had a little browse at the website and there are some stunners available but I’ve picked two that I’d love to own…

These beautiful shoes are called Jellia.  They have leather uppers and their neutral tones mean that they would go with pretty much anything!

7236969149_1
http://www.kurtgeiger.com/women/shoes/sandals/wedges/jellia-multiother-leather-croc-print-nine-west

I also adore these.  Their name is brilliant to start with – Howrude – I love that name!

7239291979

http://www.kurtgeiger.com/women/shoes/sandals/heeled-sandals/howrude-orange-synthetic-nine-west

These only seem to be available now in a size 3 (too small for me) but if you’re lucky enough to have diddy feet then snap them up – they’re gorgeous.

Have you found any amazing sales recently?  If so I’d love to hear about them.

Lisbon Visit – New Shoes

Hi shoe people,

As you may know from previous posts I have recently returned from a little holiday.  One of the stops whilst aboard Navigator of the Seas was Lisbon and I was very excited as I have noted over the years that a lot of my lovely shoes show on the soles as ‘Made in Portugal’.

We docked in Portugal quite early so my husband and I were up, dressed, breakfasted and ready to catch the courtesy bus into town before 9am.

A short ride on the bus and we were in the centre of Lisbon.  It was a beautiful day but quite early and it didn’t take us long to realise that none of the shops actually open until 10 or 10.30.

There were lots of lovely cafes with tables lining the streets so we decided to sit and have a drink, soak up the sun and wait for the shops to open.  We have never visited Lisbon so didn’t know which café to go for so I chose based on the name.  One was called ‘Café Nicola’ and I have a cousin called Nicola so it seemed like a sound basis for deciding.

It’s at times like these that I curse myself for being useless at foreign languages.  I only learnt French at school and barely know any other languages but we found a few words of Portuguese to use and ordered a tea and a coffee.

Time ticked by and it was shopping time!

Shop number one yielded the pairs on the far sides of the pictures below.  The middle two came from shop number two (after this my husband considered it too dangerous to shop any further and we went back to the boat!)P1000871
The shoes are all leather, made in Portugal and as comfortable as shoes can be.

These were the first pair that I picked out.  I went for coral coloured fronts but they also had them in blue.
P1000873

These were the first pair from shop number two.  I have to admit that they look a bit old fashioned in the photo but they look really nice on and they have a cushioned footbed and are just so comfortable.  When we had a rough day at sea and the contents of the swimming pool were spilling out onto the deck I wore these and they were lovely!P1000875

These were pair two from shop two and a bit of an impulse buy.  The shop was small and they had to go to another shop down the road to get their stock so while I was waiting for the black ones above to be brought back to the shop I saw these on the shelf.  They were in my size so I slipped one on to have a look and loved how they looked on so got them as well.  I wore these to London the other day and they were great for running across the station and I wore them to work today.
P1000878

These were from shop one and were the most expensive.  My husband picked them out and I wasn’t sure to begin with but when I tried them on I was hooked.  My husband does have great taste, I have to admit.  He’s bought me clothes and shoes before that I look at and I’m not sure but when I put them on they look brilliant.
P1000879

When I got home I realised that my new black shoes were separated at birth from their shoe twins.  Not the same colour and slightly different width straps but exactly the same style.  I love these silver Carvela sandals so it’s no wonder I knew the black ones would look nicer on than off.
P1000876

I would love to visit Lisbon again as there were many, many shops that we didn’t get a chance to see.  I would definitely take an empty case to bring back more gorgeous shoes.  If you’re a shoe person then I’m sure you’ll find something you love in Lisbon.

Have you been to Lisbon?  Did you find any lovely shoe shops?

Quick Pick

Hi,

I’m still coming back down to earth a bit after my holiday and trying to adjust to reality so to ease back into real life I have had a browse through to see what has been going on in the shoe world over the last couple of weeks.

In the summer I don’t think you can beat a clog.  I have a few pairs of various designs and they are perfect for the summer.  They look great with shorts, skirts, dresses and trousers.  They are a really good all rounder.  You can wear them on grass without fear of sinking into the ground as well as them being fine for strolling on hard surfaces.

I have found a very nice example today on the TK Maxx website for a bargain £14.99.
25384367_salt2
http://www.tkmaxx.com/heeled-shoes/black+brown-canvas-clog-heels/invt/25384367

They also have them in different colours and designs:-
25384383_salt125384366_small
These are my pick of today and will see you through the rest of spring, summer and into autumn until it gets a bit chilly.

Have you found any good picks??

All That Glitters

I apologise for the gap in posts.  As I briefly mentioned in my no heel heels post I have been on holiday.  This is my first holiday for seven years so it was much needed!

If you’ve read my blog emrothwell.wordpress.com you may know that I have a nut allergy so taking a flight is always stressful in case I get trapped in a tube full of peanut fumes.  After considering the options I contacted a few cruise operators and they confirmed that they were able to cater for a nut allergy.

The cruise that we went on had two formal nights and I knew straight away that there was one pair of shoes that were coming with me.  My red Benjamin Adams made the cut because they are just beautiful.
P1000449
These were probably my most expensive shoes but the amount that I adore them means that they were worth every penny.
P1000448 P1000446
I have tried to capture the sparkle and the whites, reds and blues that twinkle off of them when you wear them.

They have a concealed platform so they make me quite a bit taller than my original size but they are very comfortable.
P1000445 P1000444
I wore them on my holiday with a long lace dress – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Miusol-Womens-Vintage-Floral-Square/dp/B00SFJ73B2/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&qid=1464633608&sr=8-21&keywords=miusol
By the way, this dress is a bargain!  I was dubious given the price but it is beautifully made, really heavy material and looks lovely on.  It’s a long dress on me and skims the floor in bare feet so a good pair of heels is necessary for me unless I want to dust the floors.  The sparkly shoes just peeking out from the bottom of the dress are a nice touch.

The night that I wore these the sea was a bit rough but I had no problem trotting around the boat.  No trips, slips or falling over which is always good when you’re trying to look glam!

If you’re looking to try a pair of Benjamin Adams then have a search on TK Maxx, they have the brand from time to time.  I purchased mine from a small boutique – they were in the window and it was that moment when you stop and admire them and walk off but keep looking back down the street and have to go back and get them because you know you’ll regret it if you don’t!

What are your ‘must have’ shoes?  Are there any shoes that you still think about because you didn’t buy them?
